How do I get Siri to interact with Spotify on Big Sur?

Hello,

I have recently bought my new Macbook Air and am having a bit of trouble with Siri. Whenever I try to get it to interact with Spotify it says, "You'll need to update Spotify before I can help with that." Doesn't matter if I am asking it to pause, resume, or play a specific artist. The computer is brand new so both Spotify and the OS are up-to-date. Considering Apple began allowing Siri to interact with third-party apps I am confused about what to do.
