iPad restore

My iPad never had a passcode and now after several months of not using it, it is asking for a passcode. I am now trying to restore it and it is not showing up on my iTunes when I plug it in and the support.apple.com/iPad/restore is not doing anything.

iPad Pro 12.9-inch, 3rd Gen, Wi-Fi

After connecting the iPad, leave it connected and restart the iPad.
