hey guys,

I'm using macOS 11.5.2

what is kernel_task? and why is it using a lot of resources and disk writes?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.5

kernel_task is a system process that provides services requested by applications.

After an update is likely to be doing some clean up, and subside after a while.

If it continues to use a lot of resources, you have a badly behaved application, extension or daemon.
