Help in Buying

Hii,

My friend is studying in University of Texas at Arlington, he got admitted recently and need help buying a new apple laptop as a student. He is bit confused which one to go for currently as he is in need. Should he be waiting for the new Mac which is supposed to be launched in October or November or he should go with the recent Apple Mac air M1. He is supposed to be buying the Macbook air M1 1TB and 16GB Ram.

if Yes, he should go with air? Is there any exchange policy for getting the latest in replacement of the new one?

Thanks

First, at Apple Stores, no current Apple product can be used as a trade in. If the supposed new products are MacBook Pros (which is the likeliest), the the MacBook Air is still current and not eligible for trade in.

Now, you may have trade in options at a third party reseller, like Best Buy.

However, any trade in will be lower by a large amount than what you can do selling ii privately (generally 40-60% of a private sale). The only exchange policy for any product in most places is 14 days after purchase. It is just like buying a new car. Once you drive it off the lot it is used and value is immediately lost and you can't "exchange it".

Bottomline, if the need is immediate, buy now and be happy for years and if not immediate, play wait and see.
