HomeKit Secure Video only stores recordings dependent on which home hub is active. Logitech circle view camera and doorbell using AppleTV 4K and HomePod as hubs.

Short Version;

  • I have 2TB cloud as part of Apple one premier, family sharing, I’m the main owner under my Apple ID
  • Logitech Circle View was set up recently when HomePod was active home hub and ApTV4K was standby. WILL NOT record when ApTV4K is the active hub and HomePod is standby.
  • Logitech doorbell was set up just a couple of days later with the opposite configuration (not intentional), ApTV4K was active and HomePod as standby. WILL NOT record when HomePod is active and ApTV4K is standby.

Does anyone know of a fix for this? This is a major flaw in the system otherwise. Essentially anytime I go to unplug my HomePod to

clean the countertop or the AppleTV does a firmware update or gets unplugged the cameras (one or both depending on how you set them up) would completely stop storing recordings. Definitely wasn’t helpful when my car was broken into this week and my doorbell didn’t record anything from the driveway (the home app shows the cameras as red, not blue, in all cases even if recordings aren’t being stored to the cloud.)

I understand that this could be a Logitech issue but for a camera only compatible with the Apple home set up and icloud recording, purchased directly from Apple, this is not great compatibility.
