iTunes music Downloads Sizing

We have a family iTunes plan but on the iPhone XR when we download the music files are huge. Almost 5 times in size compared to any of our other apple devices. Is there some where to compress or a way to get them back to smaller. It feels like they have been download 5 or 6 times but there is no duplicates. It is taking up a large amount of the storage. We have done all the resets, erase data and all those other suggestions and they just seem to get larger and larger in size.

Any help would be great.

It seems you're trying to download music at different quality and we can help.

Check out the options here for downloading music:

Add music to iPhone and listen offline

If you go to Settings > Music > Audio Quality > Downloads, you can see a detailing of what download sizes are chosen and how much space you can expect to be used. Save in the High Quality option and you'll save the most space.

Hi apdoucette,

Any steps you'll need to take are done on the device having the problem. No other device's settings are going to effect the settings of the device having a problem.

After changing settings on the iPhone, did you remove the downloads and try to redownload them?

The settings won't take effect until the next time the files are downloaded.

Try clearing storage space as recommended here:
