Can I use my Airport Time Machine as a hard drive but not as a router?

Yes, but you will need to first check the Network tab using AirPort Utility to make sure that the AirPort Time Capsule is set up to operate in Bridge Mode.

Once that is confirmed, you will need to connect an Ethernet cable from one of the spare Ethernet ports on your 3rd party router to the "O" Ethernet port on the AirPort Time Capsule and leave it permanently connected that way.

If you do not need the additional wireless network signal that the AirPort Time Capsule produces, you can select the Wireless tab in AirPort Utility to turn off the WiFi function on the Time Capsule, so that it will operate only as a wired hard drive.

As normal, you may need to power off and restart network devices to get everything working again correctly.
