I have call 911 with side buttons disabled and it still called them
How do I actually disable 911 calls from side buttons? I already disabled it in settings. If it's relevant I'm on an iPhone 11.

I purchased an iPhone 12 from AT&T. I have accidentally called 3 times. I don't recall ever being educated about an auto 911 dial capability and certainly wasn't told by the vendor at purchase nor any hints during setup. I finally figured out how to disable the autodial function but am not real sure. On Aug 17 the police showed up at my dentist office.
I think the challenge is the functionality with the new side switch activity. I use a holster and when I put the phone in the holster my hand grip pushes the switch sequence to activate a call. In my view bad design. Previously, I had an iPhone SE, never a problem but removing a the button on the front and subsequent redesign of side switches changes the possibilities. I thought I had disabled the autodial function prior to the most recent incident, but apparently not. On the phone I still see the graphic that shows the buttons are always active. Suggest you reprogram the switches so that a holster user won't make calls and prompt vendors to tell folks that with the iPhone 12 there is now an auto 911 dial function that they have to setup.
