M1 iMac 4.5K Retina screen - anti reflective coating ?

This question was originally asked in May. Does anyone know what type of Anti Reflective coating is used on the new M1 iMac ?

  • Is it the old fashioned (Staingate) purple coating that wears off ?
  • Or is it the 3M / Belkin antiglare sheet placed on top of the glass ?
  • Or can it be the nano texture glass that the XDR & iMac Pro displays have ?

I've called Apple in Bangalore 3 times, cannot get an answer to what should be available in a hardware specification. Why is it so difficult to get precise information? I was told I should call a service center after 3 attempts to get the information from Apple directly.

What Apple has to say…

"In addition, the 4.5K Retina display on the new iMac has an industry-leading anti-reflective coating for greater comfort and readability.".

I forgot to mention, Nano-glass was not standard on iMac Pros. It's not on mine at any rate.
