reset IAC driver

MY IAC driver and ANY midi device I connect to my Mac mini (M1) does not have any properties.

all I have is "Ports" which are greyed out and I can not change.

so to be clear, I can not assign ANY properties like MIDI channels | IN or OUT | clock send | clock receive - all these options and the tab that they reside in does not appear.

If I add a new device manually I have the options, but for any devices that I have had connected - the properties simply disappear.

this was not the case when I first got the machine, just recently and all apple help does is send me I circles.
