Transferring music (selected songs) from itunes library to iphone using drag and drop

Before the new Music app is was possible to drag and drop a selection of content (songs) from your iTunes library and drop them onto your Device (iPhone) - is this feature still available, or was it discontinued with the Music app.....?

You can still manually add content, but you can do less with it once there. E.g. neither Music or Finder let you manipulate playlists on the device or edit metadata. Deleting files requires locating them in a flat list. Syncing with selected playlists is a more powerful approach. It shouldn't really take much to set it up and will pay dividends if you ever need to restore the device or upgrade to a new one.
