Automatic backups to iCloud require iPhone to be connected to WiFi and power. But you can go to Settings > My Apple ID > iCloud > iCloud Backup and tap ‘Backup Now’ to manually initiate the backup. If ‘Backup Now’ is greyed out, you will see the prompt why.
