apple id forgot password

My wife lost her Iphone and I provided all the information Apple asked for and they won't let her reset her password for over 3 weeks

The Recovery Process is an automated process and the length of time it takes can vary a lot. Apple ID Support can only answer your questions. They can't intervene in or speed up the process.

With the price of service and the cost of the phone Apple should take this more seriously and not hold the phone hostage after I provided all the information required to verify my identity !

I agree with you that 3 weeks plus is ridiculous. I have read posts where it took someone a month or more to recover their password.
