I have itunes on pc, from itunes. I got notice to update to latest version, but it takes me to microsoft. It says to download microsoft version of itunes. What happens to all the music that is in my old "Itunes" act? Will I lose it?

Problem solved. I just waited till I got a notice to update itunes This time I clicked on it and it downloaded directly from apple! easiest solution ever...without going thru microsoft! I didn't click on the notice received the first time, so went directly to itunes site and clicked on update. Thats what directed me to microsoft.
I have also read that you need to download all your music over to itunes/microsoft after you install thru microsoft. what a pain!

There are two paths to download iTunes.
One is via the Microsoft store.
The other is a download directly from Apple.
Both are compatible.

You will want backups of all of your important data, of course.
Your library remains intact when you install a new version of iTunes over your current one. In the unlikely event that something goes wrong see Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash - Apple Community. You should keep and maintain a backup of your iTunes library and other important data stored on your computer.

Swapping between the apple.com and Microsoft Store versions of iTunes should preserve the library. The link in my previous post should help in the rare event that something goes wrong. Needing to redownload all content is a sign that the library has been corrupted.

this is what I get when I go to download from apple:

If I download from microsoft, will everything in my apple itunes act be erased? Will I be starting all over from scratch?
The microsoft just says download, it does not specify that its an update.
