seriously??!!! no to do's on iphone's ical app??

this is not a question I have my answer already and it is DISAPPOINTING!!
I would like however to know how other ppl feel about this.

In a nutshell ical's "to do's' are not available on our iphone's.
Sure, there are plenty app's that you can buy that will do just that. That is not the point. Besides then you have to use another app on your mac as well...doesn't this then constitute ical as useless? (just wondering)
So the apple's software, on the mac is not 100% compatible to apple's ical app on the iphone..
does this make sense??

Yeah, it is a joke that it doesn't sync in or be an integral part of iCal on the iPhone. It should be such a logical part of the iCal use with the iPhone. It has annoyed me for a long time now.

Mind you iCal itself is now light years behind the competition as a calendar application! I have to use it unfortunately as my website ties into it automatically.

But iCal and the iPhones iCal is WELL overdue an big update!

yep and we are not talking abt an unknown small co. but apple...unbelievable.
this should be addressed a long time ago and I don't understand why has this not been solved yet.
Re-designing a new mail app is one thing but making the "to do's" sync with the iphone app should not be that difficult to accomplish.
No $$ incentive i suppose.
I'm sure it pays better (for apple that is) if ppl just switch to another app to manage their to do's via their iphone which of course they have to buy from the app store rather for apple to come up with a solution...

Actually, since the MobileMe calendar beta I cannot even find a paid app that will sync ToDos.

As of 8/5/10 is there an iPhone app paid or free that will sync To Dos with MobileMe calendar beta?

Also, good luck seating for To Dos in this forum as it seems to ignore two letter words and quotation mark to isolate search terms.

I used an app called Things for a small period of time but it was such an overkill for plain and simple todo's. I stopped using it after a short while.
I found it very good but just too much for my simple needs.
My todo's usually cover shopping, fixing something ard the house etc.. Very simple things.
For my personal needs the todo's in ical more or less suffice, however it is no use if you have to be in-front of your computer every time that you need to check or add a new one. I might as well write everything down on a piece of paper and carry that around with me all the time (just like my parents do...much more efficient).
So I am missing point of having todo's imbedded in the ical app if they can't be accessible on the go (isn't that the whole point???)
Regarding your comment about notes I have no experience at all with this app. I use them only on my iphone. Maybe someone else can provide info about this..
I appreciate the feedback on search limitations, next time I ll keep it in mind before posting.

I found something which works brilliantly!!!

2do App on the link below does the trick for me... You go to their website http://www.2doapp.com as well to download a small desktop application to sync it for you then the iphone syncs all of your ical to dos wirelessly.

Very impressed so far. Take a look and I hope it helps you guys too.

2do is a very elegant app, and could be a great to-do manager, but I am having a ton of sync problems with it. I like to write new to-dos on the phone and review them later on my Mac. 2do is presently only syncing Mac > iPhone, so that doesn't work. My wife tried it as well. She likes to compose her to-dos in Mail (it's how she first learnt) but her 2do didn't see her "Mail To Do" calendar at all!

ETasks for iPhone and iPad syncs with MobileMe Beta. Also as MobileMeBeta uses CalDav for events and todo data and because iOS4 allows developers to access this CalDav data, apps can now do over-the-air sync (Wifi and 3G) of todos stored on MobileMe Beta. So far eTasks is the only app that supports this and it works perfectly. The only drawback is that the eTasks interface is kludgy and ugly compared to other todo apps, but the for me the syncing still outweight the ugliness.

What is an utter surprise to me is that eTasks has supported this for several months yet no other app does. Every so often I search the app store for "CalDav", but find no other apps. I'm sure the other major task managers apps that don't use their own desktop app (eg Appigo ToDo and Pocket Informant) must be working on adding these features.

For me the ideal productivity system would be writing my projects in separate notes on the Mac or iPhone and having this sync across Mac and iPhone (which is currently achievable). Then embedding ToDoswithin these project notes (again currently acheivable). However for some bizarre reason Apple considers these embedded ToDoas different from other standalone ToDos, and therefore they won't sync across MobileMe! One major advantage of this system is that project notes are part of your email system and can be archive when they are complete and remain easily accessible not trappedin a proprietary program. The other major advantage of using iCal todos is that it is fast and you can easily drag a todo onto your calendar to plan your week. Weekly planning is so simple using notes > embedded todos > iCal , but Apple just hasn't linked all their software toghether yet!

I use a free app called Milpon to sync with the free version of Remember The Milk. The interface is a little kludgy, but it does work well. Remember The Milk is web-based and it can be added as a widget on your Google home page and things like that. It also comes with an email address that you can activate so that you can easily send todos via email from your mac or your iphone. For a while, I was actually using Ping! and able to call in my tasks (even with a non-iphone). I could then see them on my ipod touch, which I relied on before my iphone.

I also recommend trying out Google Tasks through gmail. You can use the Google app to get to them easily via the iphone. I just wish they synced better with Mail.
