Connecting iPhone to MacBook (Mac thinks iPhone is new)

This might be an easy fix, but when I connect my iPhone 8 to my MacBook Air (13" 2020) via an USB-connector and the apple lightning cable, it mistakenly thinks of my iPhone as a completely new phone, and says "Welcome to your new iPhone", and gives 2 options: Set as a new phone, or Reset from backup from my iPad.

But I'm afraid that whatever I do, I accidentally delete everything in my phone. Is it safe to press the first option, or am I doing something wrong?

My MacBook does show the right info about my phone, but I can't do anything else. And my phone doesn't show anything differently.

I have gotten the same message on my iPhones the first time I connect them to a computer and in my opinion the message is scary and could be worded better. I have always selected the set up as new option and it has never erased anything on my phone.
