i’m finding calendar search frustrating. i have entries on the calendar over the last 10 years some are cyclic - when i do a search which i know has entries over the last 10 years i only get any in the last year returned. i can go back manually and the entries are all there but they aren’t included in the search.
thus is really irritating as i don’t have the same issue on laptop on windows or ios

You will find that Apple’s built-in apps are generally pretty primitive. Possibly because Apple doesn’t want to appear to be competing with paid apps. If Apple apps were full featured why would anyone buy apps from the app store? I use very few of the built in apps.

Yes, you are correct. The built-in calendar only searches back 12 months. However, there are many calendar apps in the app store that can search any date range, and as a bonus have many more features than the built in calendar app. I’m partial to Week Calendar, which I have been using since Palm Pilot days, but there are several others that have good reviews.
