I'm running Mac Catalina 10.15.7 on a 15" MacBook Pro (20160, and recently ran into the Mac Defender issue from within Safari. Is the information for removing it still accurate or is this something different/new?

In general look for the in-app official uninstaller if in doubt—

For your third party app visit the developers website: Support/Help/FAQ/Known issues/compatibility



Typically third party Anti-Virus does nothing but add issues and compete directly with Apple’s® own built in Security:

Uninstall any and all third party Antivirus, Cleaners, Optimizers, VPN, speeder uppers....
