08/21/21 my iphone was hacked

I dont know if this is a true threat or not. I went to use my browser to look something up and a message came up inside a box tited: Apple Security; Below it says Hackers are watching you. It says, "Your apple iphone connection has been hacked and someone is watching you! Please do not close this page. If you don't fix this in two minutes the hacker will reveal your identity and send your browsing history and front-facing camera photos to everyone in your contacts!

Then instructions say toclick on the "Connection Protection" 2) you will be redirected the App store, 3) Install and run the recommended protection app to recover your Apple iphone.

I didnt do this but i went into my App store and this 'Privatos' came up for me to download.

Also a white box came up on my internet page over the above notice sayin: (17) System notifications

Read important notices about your IOS device. I am supposed to click 'OK'

Is this a real threat? Is this Privatos a trusted app for security? thanks for help

Keep the iPhone updated to the latest iOS always and never Jailbreak. That's it.

iOS / iPadOS devices cannot be hacked or infected with Virus / Malware / Spyware if it is updated to the latest iOS/iPadOS unless you have intentionally downloaded spurious software or unauthorized apps directly from the internet and installed on your device or/and have Jail Broken.

It (Hacking) also depends on how careful are you in sharing sensitive and valuable information pertaining to your iPhone such as Passcode, Password etc with your friends and family members.

Be careful when sharing the device's sensitive and valuable information with friends and family members.

Thumb Rules:

  1. Enable  Guided Access before handing over an iPhone to kids
  2. Don't share Apple IDs
  3. Don't Jail Break
  4. Don't share sensitive information pertaining to your device and payment methods
  5. Beware of Phishing

Thanks for the information. I always update and I don’t know what jailbreak is so I’m sure I haven’t done it. I’m glad it wasn’t a real threat but it still scared me. I didn’t click on anything but when I clicked in my browser search it took me directly to the AppStore for ‘Privatos’. I assume this is some sort of virus prevention app or something. That’s when I went on my laptop to search what was going on. If it’s nit a true threat I am thankful but I’d like to know why and how this happened. I thought maybe through new games Ive been playing but then I read that anything from the AppStore is safe. My browser started working after a couple tries. Thanks again

Oh! Now that I hear it happened to someone else I see why a scammer would do this. It’s to get people to download the apps! I always heard that the iphone was safe so I figured it had to be a scam. Of course I don’t like scammers bugging me. That itself is a hack in my eyes. I was told never to click on any scam so I didn’t. I did report a couple texts I’ve received and started getting even more so I quit reporting them. Now I just ignore and delete!
