Websockets not working (setting reserved bit)

Anytime I try to do anything with websockets, I can create the connection, but if I try to send data it closes. My server (gorilla websockets using Go) gives me the error "unexpected reserved bits 0x40", and tho connection immediately closes. I know that's not the whole problem, however, because that exact same program works fine on different computers. I've tried Safari in recovery mode as well, and it fails also. Why is this failing, and can I fix it?
