I can’t believed i had. My photos en external drive, I use iMac 2007 and I read it with out troubles, I jus buy a new iMac 2020 and when I click in the library…No read any picture and start doing something…in 3 hours..onLy 4%.
really I am very upset a new equipment new technology and not working.

How is the external HD formatted. It must be fomatted in one of these formats depending on the type of drive it is:
So if it's not formatted as above copy the library to a properly formatted volume, erase the external drive and reformat it correctly and then copy the library back.
Sometimes it'll run an a incorrectly formatted drive for quite a while until new systems and tighter requirements come along and then it doesn't run.
