When I got my new iPhone I forgot to unsync my old iPhone from my I watch before turning it in. Now I can’t use my I watch cause the screen is asking for me to unlock iPhone to unlock the watch.

My watch still is asking to be unlocked even though the jest has is not synced to my new phone. The I watch is still trying to connect with my old iPhone.
To unpair and erase watch and remove Activation Lock
From a web browser,sign in to iCloud.com with your Apple ID.
Go to Find iPhone.
Click All Devices at the top of the screen.
Click your Apple Watch.
Click Erase [device]. Select Next until the device is erased.
Click Remove from Account.
