unauthorized application installation on iphone

I did not request installation both times I observed it installing. It was removed. Where was gatekeeper and if this application is approved why did it self install? My first mac was a classic, I have never had such a hack.

No application will ever be installed that was not chosen for download from the app store if you did not jailbreak your phone. NEVER. It will never happen. So if an app appeared on your phone someone requested it, either on your phone or on some other iOS device that shares an Apple ID with you AND you have Automatic Downloads enabled in Settings/App Store.

You can see what other devices share your Apple ID by going to Settings and tapping on your name at the top. The next screen will list all devices sharing your Apple ID.

Yes there’s lots of fraud on the Internet. That is irrelevant to this discussion. An app can only be installed of you open the App Store, tap on an app, then tap Get or Buy (as appropriate). And after you do that there is an “are you sure” dialog that requires your passcode or biometric confirmation. The app that you showed in your screen shot was updated today (or the day you took the screenshot). And the cloud symbol shows it isn’t on your phone.

You can also go to Settings, tap on your name, then Media & Purchases/View Account/Purchase History and browse for it to see the first time it was installed.

Is this a new phone that you purchased directly from Apple or an authorized reseller, or is it a used phone that was not reset to factory settings before you first used it?

When you open Settings and tap on your name are there any devices listed above “Sign out” that might have downloaded the app?

I would not have posted if I or someone on my apple id had authorized the installation. We don't trust bitcoin outside an app. I understand you are adamant it wasn't Apple, OK, then it was the bitcoin app. The alert is to Apple that an application appeared on an iphone 6, running IOS 12.5.4. without authorization. Stuff happens.
