Mail in Big Sur on iMac 2019

Mail on the dock no longer shows the number of mails in the in-box in that little red circle. How do I get it back? I rely on it a lot.

Have you tried "System Preferences" --> "Notifications" --> "Mail"

Make sure check "Allow Notofications" and "Badge app icon" to see if it will bring back "the small red dot" with amount of unread emails in the mailbox.
