can I upgrade my mid 2012 MacBook Pro from mohave to Mac OS big sir by downloading software straight from apple

The mid-2012 MacBook Pro is not compatible with macOS 11 Big Sur.

The newest OS that it can run is macOS 10.15.7 Catalina.

The macOS version you can upgrade to depends on the model and year of your Mac.

Click the  (Apple) menu at the top left of your screen and choose About This Mac
