iPad and keyboard

Hi ! I’m using the iPad with the keyboard. I like how you can just stick the iPad on the keyboard. However, when I want to write on it, I prefer to have it on a flat surface so I need to detach it from the keyboard but I don’t want the camera to scratch on the surface. So my question is: If I put a case on the iPad, will it still attach itself on the keyboard or will the magnets not work anymore because they don’t touch directly ?

Thank you :)

I completely understand your question because I went through the same dilemma. I have the iPad Pro 12.9inch, the Apple Pencil 2 and the Magic Keyboard. Love the Magic Keyboard with the iPad just like you do. When I have to write with the Apple Pencil then I would like it placed flat on my desk just like a notebook. For this action, as you know, we have to remove the iPad from the Magic Keyboard. I don’t want to put my iPad, without a case, flat on my desk. I, therefore, use a folio cover when I am taking notes. This is because the iPad will not function with the Magic Keyboard with a case on it. It will not stick magnetically and it will not make the three pin connection that is present on the back of the iPad and in front of the Keyboard. I, therefore, remove the iPad and put in the folio during note taking sessions. (See below).

I bought this from Amazon here ➔ ESR Rebound Magnetic Case. Apple also sells a folio and you can find that on Apple’s Website.
