Phone says no sim

Tried new sim nothing. Apple wants me to send it in. Is there anything I can try?

You can try to make sure the sim card is correctly inserted in the iPhone: Link-> Remove or switch the SIM card in your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Make sure the SIM card gold contacts are clean.

Restart the iPhone and see if it picks the SIM card up: link-> Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

Beyond that, if it still won't detect the SIM card, then yes, you will need to send it in to get it diagnosed and repaired or replaced if necessary.
