Hi,
recently i can't backup my mac book pro with time machine; during the backup I obtain the following error message
"an error occurring while preparing backup"
Can anyone help me to solve the issue?

Try a different cable. Try the external drive on another computer. Have you made any recent changes? The need is to eliminate things that do work to determine exactly where the problem is.
Please supply complete details on your Mac's specs.
Restart and try it again. Sometimes you just need to unconfuse the computer.
