Apple TV 4K

Is Apple TV 4K still compatible with Apple TV HD?

We have HD at the moment but will probably upgrade to a 4K in the coming years but want a box now.

Apple TV 4K is compatible with HD TVs. Apple TV will hide incompatible settings, and only show valid options.
