Open each individual Pages document as before. However, now press and hold the green traffic light on the first document and select Tile Window to Left of the screen. Next, just click on your remaining Pages document. You now have a full, split-screen presentation of both documents that can be viewed independently.
When you are tired of this, press F3, and click on the right-hand icon in the gallery along the top of the screen. That will end the split-screen and return to both open documents as they were beforehand.
Alternatively, you can have both Pages documents open adjacent to one another in their separate regular document views.

Ok that helped. I have both document tabs showing. How do I have both documents side by side? Or do I have to look at them one by one, not together?
Open both documents in separate Pages windows. In the first Pages, select Window menu > Merge All Windows. This will result in a single Pages window, with each document assigned to its own tab. You then press control+tab to cycle through the document tabs.
If the documents are the same name, they need to be located in different directory locations before they are opened.
