Hot 12 mini with very light use

I was just using notes, all other apps closed, screen at 50% brightness, not plugged in, in a cool environment and still my phone gets quite hot to the touch. I have very Few apps with automatic push notification but I feel it does this often enough to cause damage, I’d this happens is it converted under warranty? Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening? It’s very frustrating as I upgraded from my 7 for the same reason

Before the heat damages your phone, it will go into an overheating mode and stop working. A warning will display on the screen that it is too hot. I have had this happen a couple of times when I had my phone in a car holder in the sun with no air conditioning. When that happened, I put it in a shady part of the car and it was fine in 10 minutes. That was April and there seems to be no lasting damage.

If that warning is not appearing on the screen, then your phone is not too hot from its point of view. If you think it is too hot to the touch, then you might want to put it in a case.
