Change email address on my Appleid

I have been asked by Apple to change the email address on my Appleid by October 26.

(1) I received the email from Apple this afternoon but no longer found that email in my inbox. Was that email actually from AppleSupport or a scam?

(2) If I change the email address of my AppleID, would that change the "family sharing" with my daughter?
