Just got a magic keyboard. Running Catalina. MY function keys do not work, though all the others seem to. And help other than some bs about bluetooth pairing? the keyboard is bluetoothed just fine.

Though it seems I am downloading BigSur. I have a 2019 27-inch iMac

iMac 27″, macOS 10.15
