What is the purpose of the USB in your procedure?

If its purpose is to carry the file from your computer to another device from which to send it to the printer, you will need to save it (export it) to the USB in a format that can be opened by and printed from an application on that other device.

If that device also has Pages, you can save the document to the USB, then open it with Pages on the other device and print as you normally would.

If that device does not have Pages installed, you will need to Export the document to the USB in a file format that can be opened by an application on the other device.

A step by step process is listed below:

  • Plug your USB stick into the device containing Pages and the document to be printed.
  • Open the document in Pages.
  • Press command-P to open the Print dialogue.
  • Click the PDF button a lower left, and choose Save as PDF
  • In the Print dialogue, select the USB stick as the location, and enter a name for the document file.
  • Press Save to save a pdf copy of the file on the stick.
  • In Finder, eject the USB stick.
  • Remove the stick from the computer and insert it into the device from which you will send the file to the printer.
  • Open the stick, then double click the file to open it into the pdf application used to view (and print) pdf documents.
  • Print as you normally would.
