Spatial audio on older receiver

Hi all,

I play music on Apple tv 4k trough an Onkyo TX-NR616 receiver and I am a bit frustrated because I cannot deactivate multichannel audio, even if I set Dolby Atmos on off (this receiver isn't even compatible with Dolby Atmos standard).

I use two full range speakers for listening music, and 3 smaller speakers for 5.1 content (with te full range ones for front left/right channels).

If I turn off Dolby Atmos in settings (apps/music/Dolby Atmos/off) the sound still comes from all speakers.

Is it possible to play spatial audio (dolby atmos) content from Apple Music in stereo on my setup?

About spatial audio with Dolby Atmos in Apple Music - Apple Support

If your set Apple TV: Settings﹥Apps﹥Music﹥Dolby Atmos﹥Off, then Apple TV will output a stereo signal for music.

If your set Apple TV: Settings﹥Apps﹥Music﹥Dolby Atmos﹥Automatic, then Apple TV will output a spatial audio signal (using Dolby Atmos audio encoding) for music that has this feature, and if your audio system supports that.

If the sound comes from all speakers anyway in the Off setting, then that would be a receiver setting, not an Apple TV setting.

Thanks for the answer, I thought I had it sorted out on my receiver end, but I skipped a setting. You were right, thanks again!
