Xcel Read Only/iCloud Drive

Only happening with Excel (not Word) but the previous spreadsheet I had saved and am trying to edit is now only opening as a read-only file. The spreadsheet is saved to my iCloud drive. When I try to save it after eating it, it says "I do not have permission to save to this location" - can someone help? I asked Microsoft and they said, "as the permissions dialogs are coming from Mac OS, not Microsoft Office. My suspicion is that this is the way Apple wants it to work."

Hi dwells48, We appreciate you reaching out to us. We understand that you are experiencing issues with an Excel spreadsheet, and you are receiving a "You do not have permission to save files to this location" error message.

We’d like to gather additional details that may help us be in a better position to assist you.

Are you experiencing the issue on a specific spreadsheet, or are you experiencing the issue on all of your Excel spreadsheets?

Also, have you had the chance to check if the issue persists on a different user account? The article below can help if you do not have any other user account to test with.

Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

These details can help further isolate the issue.

Take care!
