How long before migration assistant transfers files
I set up my old and new iMac and it says "transferring your information" but after about 20 minutes 0 files have transferred. Is this normal?

How are you doing the migration, it simply depends on the method you are connecting and what are you connecting to. The fastest and most reliable method is in Setup Assistant and Migration Assistant.
