Locked out of iPad Pro due to parental controls

Hello everyone,

Here's the situation: I bought an iPad for my son and started setting it up. While creating an Apple ID for him, I entered his age as 10 and the page recommended me to create a family account so that I could control his app downloads, etc.

I created a family group and added his Apple ID as a member using his iPad. BECAUSE his iPad is the ONLY apple product at home.

Then I log out my ID and log in with his Apple ID.

Now, whenever he wants to download an app, the system sends his parent (me) a request. But, interestingly, that request can only be seen through an Apple product, which should be logged in with my ID.

I don't have another apple product and I don't want to be forced to buy one.

My son also can't log out from his iPad due to security reasons/parental controls.

Now, I have to ask a friend to lend me his (logged off) apple product and try to handle the situation, which is ridiculous.

WHY on earth, isn't there an override option in his iPad, which I can enter my credentials and override some of the preferences??

I'll be very happy if there is any other option for me..

Thanks a lot..

That iPad is the ONLY Apple product in the household. My recommendation is that you log your son out of the iPad and log in with your Apple ID. You can still set the Screen Time restrictions on the iPad with a passcode. You do not need to create a Family Sharing account because, at this point, you do not have other Apple products to join the Family.
