Stairs measuring

I have given my Apple Watch and iPhone persimmon to count steps and stairs but the health and activity apps undercount stairs climbed. I know because my husband always gets an accurate but much higher count when we climb the same stairs or hills. I tried checking the settings.

Apple Watch and iPhone health count How can I calibrate my step count on my iPhone and Apple Watch? I’d like to see the combined step count in both the iPhone health app and my activity app. If I’m not wearing my watch or it’s out of battery my step count on the health app is much higher on my phone than my watch. When I put the watch back on the activity app doesn’t update with the step count on my iPhone.

Try unpairing and re-pairing again or;
