Apple Watch Gen 1 Time Zone changes with iphone6plus?

Hi Folks - I have a Gen1 Apple watch which is working fine and I realize its no longer supports new system upgrades however I recently traveled and the watch did not pick up the phones change in time zones which is inconvenient for its main purpose. Obviously when I go to software upgrades it simply spins the wheel and nothing happens. Not sure why the ability to change time zones is impacted which worked fine on the old software? Any ideas to get the time changed or is my watch restricted to its last time zone that works? - Thanks

The first (and simplest) thing to try if something isn’t working right is to restart your Apple Watch and its paired iPhone. If necessary (device not responding), try a forced restart. Both methods can be found here:

If that doesn't help, the next steps would be to unpair and pair your watch again and restore from the backup just created. This should result in no loss of data. It deletes all temp and corrupted files and re-indexes the file system.
