App updates require password every time

I have my apps set to automatically update in background but they don’t and the app store requires me to enter my password for each app. I talked to AppleCare but they could not fix the problem. Please if you have a solution share it!

Thank you for your response. I am using the latest version of the OS and all software. This is ONLY about updating apps. My iPad app update settings are identical to the settings on my iPhone but the iPad automatically updates while the iPhone doesn’t. This is not a small issue when I have 20 apps to update where the iPhone will not allow me to “update all.” The iPhone was updating without incident until I downloaded the last OS update.

Hi marchesa,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

We are happy to help with the issue you are having with being asked for your password to automatically update your apps even though you have your Automatic Updates option turned on in settings. You should make sure you are running the latest version of software. Learn how to Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch here.

Check out the section "Customize automatic updates" in Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. "Some updates might need to be installed manually." Is it all apps?

"If you tap Install Tonight, just plug your device into power at night. Your device will update automatically overnight." Are you leaving it plugged in overnight?

Cheers!
