How can I add my school mail account to apple mail?

If the school's account is one that can only be accessed via a browser you won't be able to add it to Mail's accounts. Many schools are only browser accessible.

go to AppleMenu>Mail and choose "add account"
then follow the prompts.
and if you don't already have another account in apple mail, you will be prompted to add an account the first time you open the mail app.
