Autosave Issue

I am receiving this message while working on a document in Pages that I accessed through my Google Drive:

The document “...” could not be autosaved. The file has been changed by another application.

Due to these unexpected changes, Pages may be unable to save your changes. Click Revert to load the changes made by the other application. Click Save Anyway to attempt to overwrite the changes made by the other application. You can also click Save As to attempt to save your changes to a different file.

None of these options are stopping the pop-up message from returning. What do I need to do?

The autosave in Pages is intended for Apple compatible filesystems including iCloud Drive. Although MS Word documents and Pages documents are zip-compressed and renamed archives, Google only supports Microsoft documents as documents. When Google Drive encounters a Pages document, it sees it as a Zip archive and wants to unzip it once you double-click it to open it there. This may also be condemning Pages autosave to problems too.

Apple's Pages, Numbers, and Keynote documents should not be saved to Google Drive, and you should consider using MS Office whose documents are supported by Google Drive.
