App Store for Apple TV is available for Apple TV (4th generation) or newer with tvOS 9 or newer. The latest software update for Apple TV (3rd generation) is Apple TV Software 8.4.6.

Yes. That's correct. You can't access the App Store on Apple TV (3rd generation).

My software 7.7 When I tell it to update I am getting response I already have the latest software.

Sorry, the latest version of Apple TV Software for Apple TV (3rd generation) is actually 7.7 My mistake.
