Making phone calls on iPad without iPhone

I’m just wondering when will Apple finally get phone function enabled on iPad without a must to use iPhone?

I don’t want to carry 2 devices with me all the time and seldom use to ring people. As not every person around me have iPhone, FaceTime and iMessage is not always an option. I think it’s time for apple to pick up the slack and finally add that function to iPads. I’m more than happy to get rid of iPhone all together.

Samsung is there for years now (Samsung Tab A7, 2021 model is latest), yet Apple still sticks to old fashioned drag…time to pick up slack and finally make customers happy and wouldn’t take much to do really…and I’m waiting for years and years now…

I want to be free with my iPad mini and ring someone if I need it without tiny iPhone “baggage”
