Why does my Mid-2009 iMac have a pink fuzzy screen?

Why does my Mid-2009 iMac have a pink fuzzy screen?

Here is the backstory: I finally repaired my newer iMac. I am reverting this one back to stock. All I did was put the original hard drive back in (Western Digital Caviar Blue WD1600AAJS) The boot chime plays, DVD drive makes its usual noises, and the fans spinning up. The reason why there is the “question mark folder” is because the drive is blank. I plugged everything back in and tried taking it back apart 2 more times. Does anyone know why it is like this?

Based on just the images you provided, it appears (no pun intended) that the display cable may not be securely attached. I'm sure that you needed to remove the display in order to access the hard drive and it may be possible that the display cable was not securely re-attached ... or potentially there is debris in the connector preventing proper contact.
