Can't write to external hard drive after latest Big Sur update
I have a Seagate external HD and use NTFS for Mac to manage the drive, which is formatted for NTFS. I was able to read and write to the drive without a problem until the latest Big Sur update. Now I can't write to the drive and can't change permissions to allow the drive to be written to. The drive is plugged directly into my 2019 iMac. I tried buying a second HD which I formatted to Journaled Extended, then copied all the data from the Seagate to the new drive. the new drive worked fine until the iMac hibernated. When I woke it up I couldn't see the data. I tried disk utility to fix whatever caused the data to disappear to no avail. I tried reformatting the drive to start over but got several error messages, the last of which indicated the drive went bad. I took the drive back.. It was a 14 TB Western Digital Easy Stor drive.
Two questions: 1. Is there a way to get back the write permissions on the Seagate drive.
