Most models of iPad require a Power Adapter rated at least 12W (2.4A @5V) to reliably charge.

Your iPad Pro supports USB PD (Power Delivery) Fast Charging. When using a suitable Power Adapter, such as the 20W Power Adapter supplied with your iPad Pro, your iPad will charge at its maximum supported charging rate (i.e., 2.0A @9V / 1.5A @12V).
