How can I retrieve a text conversation that I accidentally deleted?

You can’t, in general, except in the special case if you do not sync messages to iCloud, and you have a backup made before the conversation was deleted. In that situation only you can restore the backup. But note that the backup will overwrite everything on your phone, not just the missing message.
