Using ENTER to start new line and NOT send messages

iPad8, 14.7.1, bluetooth keyboard, US English selected. Typing Messages, I want to be able start new paragraphs using the ENTER key, but I really need to NOT send messages inadvertently, which has become a constant irritation. Instead of starting a new line, ENTER sends my message. I do not want messages sent unless I hit the SEND arrow.
